Broadway

Broadway Tower

Pitch 98. A large hard standing next to the water point and waste. The day is sunny but cold.....when the sun disappears behind a cloud.

After the awning is up and we have had some lunch. I unpack the bikes...by unpack I mean take them out of the bag they travel in and re-assemble, as these are folding cycles.

High viz jacket zipped and we are off for a short outing , mainly to test that all is well ready for the biggy tomorrow.
That is if the weather holds.

Well it has.... the sun is out and shinning. Bike ride then it is. On with the Viz jacket, tight leggings and trainers and we are off, Broadway first, no one about, after a few photo's we head for Willersey, always a joke with us after Hillersley etc ( Hi Lesley, Why Lesley). The next bit was harder to sell  but with a promise of a flat stretch and a few "Yeehaa's" ( down hill sections which are free wheelers and in summer legs kicked out to the whoop of Yeehaa).
However the hill was steeper and longer than I had promised and even with a sitdown on a convienient bench for 11's, the air was blue for some time to come.

We stopped briefly after the Tower to watch a pack of horses 100 or so following the hunt. This was rather special as we have never seen so many in one go before ( they didnt catch a fox). It was then along the road past all the lavendar "bet this smells good when in flower", " when is that I wonder".

Snowshill
We stopped for lunch in Snowshill, wonderful looking village high on the Cotswolds. We wondered whilst chomping on our pork pies just how much it would cost to buy  a house here       ( £895,000 we found out later looking in an estate agents window).

The ride home was the longest and best freewheels we have ever had 2.5 miles downhill....YYYeehhaaa!!!.

Breakfast of eggs benedict ( campsite version), boots laced up and rucksac packed as this is a walking day. ( sore legs after yesterday).

Our aim to scale the dizzy heights of Broadway Hill and its Tower "£4.50 or 5.50 free entry for a year".

We have the walk to ourselves until we reach the Tower, its now midday and ebveryone is out for a walk or drive to the top of Fish Hill and a stroll from the car park to the Tower.
After a look around its down hill all the way , a bench half way down serves as a resting stop and lunch. The views are wonderful across the Vale of Evesham.

We are soon back at the van to reflect on the day and  much needed rest.
